Securus Technologies is the most effective provider of technology solutions for both criminal and civil purposes in that it enhances corrections, investigations, monitoring, and public safety. It has been able to solve some issues in the correctional facilities regarding technology which include contraband cell phones. Some correctional and law enforcement facilities that have not installed Wireless Containment Solutions have ended up with cases of inmates harming the general public.
Recently, it came as a shock when a Facebook live video was filmed by an inmate inside Evans Correctional Institution via the use of a contraband cell phone. The three and half minute video clip went viral on the internet. Jose Ariel Rivera who is a 31 year old is serving a ten-year sentence due to burglary. According to his public inmate profile, he was caught with a cellphone on some occasions illegally.
Another incident is that of Robert Johnson who worked at Lee Correctional Institution, South Carolina. His job was to do away with contraband in the institution. Johnson did his work so well to the extent that he was shot at his home. According to him, a week earlier before the shooting incident, he had found a huge contraband package in the institution. Recently, an ex-convict who had been released from prison a few months ago was arrested and convicted of attempting to kill Johnson. Sean Echols had been contacted via a contraband cell phone and a reloadable Greendot card with $6000 with an aim to kill Johnson. Additionally, Johnson says he was shocked when a nine-month-old baby lost his life in his mother’s arms in Georgia. An inmate had ordered for the murder because an uncle had done something they didn’t like.
Securus Wireless Containment Solutions was created with an aim to detect and prevent incidents like these or similar ones. Had the wireless Containment Solutions been installed in the correctional facilities, calls made by inmates could have been unable to connect thus prevent the shooting that occurred. In March this year, FCC voted to have contraband interdiction technology in correctional facilities. Johnson was among the people who testified before FCC on how to address the issue of doing away with contraband cell phones. According to Securus Technologies, more than 1.7 million illegal communication attempts in 8 U.S correctional facilities were detected and prevented between July 2016 and July 2017.
Securus Technologies has a Wireless Containment System to detect and prevent inmate phone calls. They have also invested $40 million in developing its solution to continue being the leading provider of civil and criminal technologies. The firm is also working to put up a phone network to which a phone connects to the network and calls a certain number. The inmates can then choose an action upon the number. This network will have an exception to numbers such as 911.

They would probably be more working hours, extra time that is not well compensated and poor wages.
But if you think the conducive work environment that is in place nowadays came easy, you are mistaken. It came through hard work and numerous sacrifices from our forefathers and the people who fought so hard for the improvement of the work environment through advocacy for better pay and less working hours for all employees.
There is one legend who through sweat and blood made all these possible and we all owe the good work environment to him and other communists. His name is James Larkin.
Born in an under privileged family, he had to make ends meet. He was Born in Liverpool and had to do handy jobs for survival. He was known as a trade unionist and a communist. Learn more about James Larkin: http://spartacus-educational.com/IRElarkin.htm
Seeing the poor working conditions of workers at that time, he decided to advocate for fairer and more conducive working conditions. He first joined National Union of Dock laborers (NUDL) where he shared his ideas.
The people there did not like his means and was moved to Dublin where he formed the Irish Transport and general workers union (ITGWU).
He continued his advocacy until when he formed the Irish Labor Party and carried out a major lockout that was caused by workers strike for more than 8 months in 1913. They eventually won and were given fairer working conditions.
He moved to the US where he continued his advocacy through lectures and joining work unions. In the 1920 he was charged with criminal anarchy and the charges also included communism but later on released but was forced to go back to Ireland. He continued his advocacy until his death in 30th January 1947.
Well, the next time you enjoy the conditions at your workplace don’t forget that people like James Larkin worked hard to see that the work environment is much better today.

Not long ago, President Donald Trump rescinded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or commonly known as DACA. This executive action was created by previous President Obama to give young undocumented minors protection from deportation on the grounds that they were taken to the United States when they were children. The basis is that these young adults should not be deported back to their original countries because they did not have a choice to come to the United States but were forced to come here illegally. This issue is polarizing in Washington with people loving the decision or hating the decision. Republican states have threatened to sue the administration if action was not taken to stop DACA.
Many people believe that President Trump rescinding DACA is a very bad decision. One organization that has shown how negative of a decision the President has made is Frontera Fund. This organization is focused on helping the public and politicians see all the good things DACA does. It also is focused on working towards a final solution to this issue: a DREAMer piece of legislation created by Congress to cement DACA into the future, taking away the fear of hundreds of undocumented young adults looking for a solid future in their home.
THe future of DACA is unclear, with many sides fighting for their own vision of the future. One side wants every person protected with DACA deported. Another side wants Congress to act. Finally having a law created by Congress put into effect would end much of the legal issues originally brought up by DACA. Many organizations want this side to win including the Frontera Fund. The fight for DACA is far from finished with the fight aiming to last for years, but one thing is for sure: that people will not stop fighting to make sure people that deserve to be protected are.
